Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications is responsible for assisting with all facets of athletic communications including sports information, media relations, publications, social media, content creation, etc. This individual will serve as the media contact for assigned sports while providing statistical support for all assigned events and producing event stories, website and social media content for these assigned sports.

Job Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Responsible for pregame, live and postgame statistics for all assigned sports. Must also be available to fill in as official statistician as necessary. Assist with the content generation and management of the athletics department website and social media channels.
- Manage and maintain social media accounts for assigned sports and be innovative in storytelling on social media for assigned accounts and teams. This includes content planning for assigned sports.
- Write and edit various department communication materials, press releases, game notes and content for the department's website.
- Work within the external team to develop and execute sport-by-sport social media campaigns across a variety of platforms including in-game tweets.
- Effectively tell the story of assigned sports visually, on the website and on social media.
- Work closely with athletics creative, video and marketing staffs to promote stories of the department through digital and social media platforms.
- Report statistics, nominate, and promote student-athletes and coaches for awards.
- Work with local and national media to promote USF Athletics and student athletes.
- Assist with the student employee program and gameday staffing.
- Archive photos, build photo galleries and work with creative team for photos for marketing and other materials as needed.
- Write and edit on-line record books for assigned sports.
- Create and execute digital storytelling methods for the department working with creative and marketing for concepts and ideas.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the university's Office of Marketing Communications to share
- information, develop stories, and amplify the achievements of USF student athletes and our
- Division I athletics program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Understanding and appreciation of the mission, vision, and values of the University of San Francisco.
- Bachelor's degree required, with emphasis on journalism, public relations, communications or related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of public relations, communications or sports information experience in an NCAA athletics department and/or professional sports organization.
- Experience in Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
- Proficiency with Stat Crew and NCAA Live Stats (Genius).
- Excellent verbal, written, organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience in feature writing, game coverage, copy editing and proof reading.
- Well-versed in social media strategies and trends including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok
- Must possess versatility, innovation, and creativity in story-telling, and have ability to integrate print, graphics, and video production across all platforms
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations across all USF sponsored sports
- The position requires some travel and working evenings, weekends and select holidays in addition to daily office hours. Also requires other related duties as assigned by your supervisor and/or other department leadership. Ability to present a professional demeanor and deliver a high-level of customer service.
